NORMAN S. ROCKWELL
LEAD GUITARIST &
FINGERSTYLE SOLOIST

(Acoustic, Electric, & Fretted Dobro)

My purpose is to enhance the quality of live and recorded performances of artists I accompany and groups I am involved with. I particularly like to accompany original singer/songwriters.

I have been playing since 1964. Elements of Folk, Bakersfield Country Blues, Memphis Soul, and Bluegrass are incorporated in my style. My main influences are John Fahey, early Jerry Garcia, Clarence White, and James Burton. I flatpick, fingerpick, and use a combination of both.

Taste, tone, phrasing, playing appropriately for the song, and maintaining a certain degree of authenticity to the roots of American music are my primary concerns as a musician.

I have also arranged 1000 songs for solo guitar.

Testimonials

"In an era of synthesizers, drum machines, and increasingly homogenized and impersonal styles of playing, Norman S. Rockwell is a refreshing new voice. In addition to his gorgeous tone, elegant phrasing, and superb choice of notes, he is the kind of musician everyone would like to have in their band because he listens, and is only concerned with making the music sound better. It was a joy to play with him."

"Norman is a great player and I love playing with him."

            — SAM ANDREW
(Lead guitarist for Janis Joplin & Big Brother & The Holding Company)

"Norman is a very tasteful, extremely knowledgeable musician. His personal style of playing makes him an excellent accompanist and he really enhances my songs."
